The Story Behind the Treats
If you’ve ever met our owner, Wayne, you know he’s the type who notices the dog before he notices anything else. And if your dog has ever met Wayne, they know he carries freeze-dried venison treats with him at all times for every dog he meets at clients’ homes, jobsites, and local businesses.
Over the years, the four-legged friendships forged with our clients’ best friends have become an unofficial part of the Downy experience… and Wayne’s favorite part of the job.
So naturally, they need a page of their own.
Meet the furry friends who have earned a permanent place in our Downy family
Kona
Kona is a sweet, lively, and perpetually hungry 2-year-old Chocolate Lab with the very important responsibility of defending the house from wild turkeys. She’s a devoted ball enthusiast, talented nose-bouncer, and expert at finding the sunniest possible place for a nap. Her hero is Wayne, who reliably arrives with her two favorite things: venison treats, and a willingness to throw the ball over and over again. When snacks are late, Kona deploys her signature move: the hungry frozen death stare.
Jack
Jack is an 11-year old Golden Retriever–Black Lab mix with a surprise dash of St. Bernard and the calm, friendly personality to match. Born in Ohio and newly relocated to Boulder, he’s now the much-loved only pup of the household, and a favorite among the Downy Home crew. Jack enjoys treats, making friends, and keeping a safe distance from anything resembling a bath. He’s especially fond of Wayne, his trusty treat-bearing friend.
Tank
Tank is a 9-year-old Miniature Pinscher from central Texas with a sweet disposition and a big attitude. His hobbies include hanging out with Grandpa on the back porch, policing the neighborhood duck population, and peeing on anything worthy of the honor. During his family’s remodel, Tank enjoyed his duties as site manager, staying underfoot and closely supervising each and every move. We think he has true leadership potential in the remodeling business.
