Sometimes, it’s not about a full renovation—it’s about smart, thoughtful changes that improve how a space works and feels. That was exactly the case with Dino and Lisa’s kitchen.

Their kitchen featured a charming bay window with a built-in sitting bench. It had potential, but in reality, the bench sat too high to be used comfortably with a standard table, making it more of a decorative element than a functional one. At the same time, they were looking for more storage and prep space to support their love of cooking.

We sat down with Dino and Lisa to understand how they really wanted to use their space. Together, we came up with a custom solution: a moveable island that would serve both practical and aesthetic needs.

The island was built with a generous 12” overhang on each side, designed to function like a dining table, allowing them to sit comfortably and enjoy meals in the kitchen. The island also added crucial storage and counter space for cooking prep. Because flexibility was key, we constructed the island on adjustable feet so it can be moved and leveled easily depending on their needs.

Off-the-shelf cabinetry just wouldn’t have worked for this vision. So, we custom-built the island, carefully finishing it to complement the existing color palette of their kitchen. The result is a piece that looks like it’s always belonged—while adding so much more functionality than before.

Now, Dino and Lisa have a space that not only looks great, but works beautifully for their lifestyle.
