Meet the Team

Wayne Mullis (Principal)

I’ve been in the remodeling industry since the age of 16. Throughout this journey, I’ve gained hands-on expertise in nearly every aspect of residential construction, but I found my passion in kitchen and bathroom remodels. I was drawn to the artistic side of this specialization and the attention to detail it demands. Since kitchens and bathrooms are typically smaller spaces, they satisfy my desire for innovative ways to stay organized.

Over the years, I’ve managed projects from a few thousand dollars to multi-million-dollar renovations, including everything from adding powder rooms to complete home transformations. I thrive on the problem-solving aspect of each project, as every endeavor presents unique challenges and solutions, regardless of size. The satisfaction of helping clients realize their dream spaces is unmatched, and the friendships I’ve built along the way have been equally rewarding.

I am very passionate about building a high quality remodeling firm here in Boulder that is financially accessible to my working class neighbors. This doesn’t allow for a lot of down time, but when I do have a free moment you can find me enjoying the unmatched natural beauty of the Front Range, or volunteering my time with the dogs at the Human Society of Boulder Valley.

As for the name “Downy Home”… my inspiration came from the vibrant birdlife I encountered upon moving to Boulder. I was captivated by the Downy woodpecker and its quirky personality, making it the obvious choice for my business name.

Denise Miller (Communications Director)

I’m Denise, a Denver native and lover of all things architecture and design-related. My eye for aesthetics and way with words help shape the voice of our company with heart, creativity, and a distinctly feminine touch. Outside of work you’ll find me on my yoga mat, lost in a good electronic music set, or handcrafting jewelry in my home studio.

Originally from Western MA, I bring more than two decades of construction and remodeling experience to the table. After various apprenticeships and assistant positions, my first full-time construction jobs were in Timber Framing; performing restoration work on historic New England structures, as well as new construction of traditional timber-framed buildings.

Through the years I branched out into residential remodeling, frame-to-finish construction of custom homes, and eventually, project management. My passions in this industry are for creative problem-solving, precise carpentry work, and pursuit of the greatest possible efficiency through effective planning and organization.

In my spare time I’m an environmentalist, an outdoor enthusiast, and an animal lover.
I’m excited to get started turning your vision into reality!

Hi, I’m Forrest Chedebell. My wife, son, and I recently moved to Colorado, and we’re excited to make it our new home. I’ve been in construction and remodeling for over 17 years, and I enjoy seeing the excitement in people when their visions for their homes become reality. Outside of work, I love taking my son to the many parks around our home, hiking, and playing disc golf.

Shawn Roberts (P.M./Estimator/Employee Owner)

I’m a craftsman at heart with a deep appreciation for design, detail, and the stories that spaces can tell. For me, building and creating isn’t just work, it’s a lifelong passion rooted in craftsmanship, patience, and pride in doing things the right way.

I believe every home has the potential to be extraordinary when approached with care, creativity, and respect for the people who live there. My work is about more than construction; it’s about collaboration. Listening, understanding, and turning ideas into something real and lasting.

No matter the scale of the project, my goal is always the same: to create something meaningful, built to last, and crafted with integrity.

Outside of work, I’m an avid rock climber and paddle boarder, and enjoy spending time with my dogs in the mountains.
